About Marnix Van Marcke

Marnix discovered his passion for photography in the 1970s. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a deep love for landscape photography. Inspired by the legendary photographer Ansel Adams, he adopted the "Zone System" and "Fine Print" techniques to achieve the highest level of detail and quality in his images.

While building a professional career in the software industry, photography remained a constant in his life. Around the year 2000, he transitioned from analog to digital photography—a step that was made easier by his IT background. His expertise in the "Zone System" and "Fine Print" continues to influence his digital workflow, resulting in prints of exceptional quality.

Marnix is the author of several photo books, for which he not only captures the images and writes the text but also designs the layout and handles the prepress process. His books are published through blurb.com and colorland.com.

Beyond his work as a photographer, Marnix is a respected speaker on the subject of landscape photography. He regularly gives lectures for the Flemish amateur photography community, supported by “Breedbeeld.” Photography clubs and organizations interested in booking a lecture can reach out via the contact form.
